Angelic Layer
This series seemed rather interesting to me. Seems ADV decided it was worth while as well . . . the series is out on DVD
The story goes a bit like this;
A school-girl named
Misaki Suzuhara goes to Tokyo to live with her aunt . . . on the way out of the
rail-station she sees an "Angel Fight" on a public big-screen-TV . . . She
becomes enamored with Angelic Layer and with a little coercion from a mysterious
fellow named Icchan . . . spends all her transit fare on Angelic Layer gear . .
. including an "Angel" . . . a small robot that you can control with your mind .
. .provided you're wearing a head-piece/visor that picks up your thoughts.
There are some
interesting twists that you go through with Misaki and her Angel named Hikaru as
they battle one challenger after another to become champion. A little different
story for a girl.
The anime is a little
different than the manga, the plot is more of "human interest" and the way it
ends is quite different than the manga . . . or not
The animation isn't
quite as good as the First season of Cardcaptor Sakura, (perhaps the most famous
of CLAMP's Manga-turned-Anime), but it still looks really good. The thing that
was startling about it was how clean it looked . . . And I mean that in a good
way.
Regardless, I think most anime fans would enjoy this show.
I hope you enjoy what I do have.
